Energy Efficiency

Kolbe uses the latest innovations in low emissivity (Low-E) technologies in various combinations, so we are able to offer glass that is best suited to any climate – from sea to shining sea. These elements provide great thermal performance as well as excellent UV protection. We also offer Low-E glass coatings that help minimize solar heat gain in very warm climates. For even better energy performance, numerous products are available with triple pane glass.
IMPACT RESISTANCE
In a hurricane or tropical storm, the most damage generally occurs when the envelope of a building is breached by wind-borne debris. This causes a pressure difference between the interior and exterior of the building, and can occur due to window and door damage. For this reason, Kolbe submits its windows and doors to independent organizations which test them to rigorous protocols requiring specific wind loads and types of flying debris.
Over the years, strict building codes have been implemented in coastal areas to prevent excessive damage during tropical storms and hurricanes. A wide selection of Kolbe products can be upgraded to meet specific needs, including impact resistance in Zone 4 and High Velocity Hurricane Zones.
